Welcome to Carolyn Varley Photography,

I love photographing nature scenes and wildlife. Spending time outdoors allows me to observe wildlife in a way many people don’t get to see.

In order to capture wildlife with my camera I find myself researching their habits much like a hunter would.

I have taken a few general photography classes but much of what I have learned about wildlife photography is self-taught.

Some of my work has been published in the Maple Grove Magazine and the Freshwater Society of Minnesota Weatherguide Calendar. I am listed in the Humane Society of the United States Photographer's Directory. I have shown and sold my work at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum at their December art sale. I have also shown and sold my work at the Elk River Area Arts Alliance, as well as the Maple Grove Arts Center.

I most recently got into the 2017 Audubon Photography Awards Top 100 for one of my Western Grebe images. You can see that image on their website. It is image 48 of 100.
